An Accra High Court has dismissed an application praying it to strike out counts of assault charges brought against the National Charmian of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo; with the judge revealing that the defence were not dire and that the charges were clear under the law.
During the last hearing on May 27, 2019, Counsel for Ofosu Ampofo, Tony Lithur contended that, it was needful for the court to make a determination on the application prior to the proceedings of the trial.
Presiding judge Justice Asiedu also laid aside an application praying the court to direct the prosecution to provide the diary of action regarding the case of a Deputy National Communications Officer of NDC, Kweku Boahen, setting the trial to begin on the 8th of July, 2019.
The diary of action is a documentary evidence relating to all aspects of the investigations.
Though Mr. Boahen’s lawyers produced an alibi revealing their client was not at the said meeting where the Attorney General suggested that comments inciting the party’s communicators were made, such application was also dismissed.
