Survation polled voters in Rees-Mogg’s North East Somerset constituency and found that the Lib Dems had experienced a 20% surge, while Rees-Mogg’s own support had fallen by 10%.
In a normal scenario, Rees-Mogg would still be in a relatively safe position. He still stands at 44% in the polls, with the Lib Dems on 28%.
However, if anti-Brexit voters choose to vote tactically, the avid Brexiteer could be in trouble.
Survation asked constituents to consider how they would vote, if they knew only the Tories and Lib Dems had a chance of winning the seat. In this scenario, the anti-Brexit party came within just 6 points of Rees-Mogg – the Tories on 38% and the Lib Dems on 32%.
It would be a sweet, sweet day to see Rees-Mogg booted out of the House of Commons. Let’s hope the parties can get their act together to make it happen.
