Post of Dr Bawumia below:
I was the Special Guest at the 39th edition of the @Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana annual Technology and Agricultural Exhibition in Accra on Sunday, December 29, 2019.
I lauded the remarkable achievements chalked by Apostle Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo, Founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, especially in the area of agricultural and technological development, and industrialisation.
I reaffirmed the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s policy to make technical and vocational education a major component of our educational curriculum and ensure re-engineering technical and vocational education in Ghana to become abreast with modern trends.
Government is constructing 20 state of the art TVET institutions in all regions. There is also a $130 million project for the construction of training workshops for 5 polytechnics and technical universities together with 10 technical institutes in areas such as mechanical engineering, automobile engineering, civil engineering, welding engineering and others.
I noted that Government already announced in 2018 that the free SHS would also be extended to TVET institutions to make it affordable for students whose parents cannot afford the fees. Our approach to TVET is therefore comprehensive.
