The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Chris Houghton as the new helmsman for the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars.
Houghton, whose appointment has been in the rumour mill for quite a while now, has been with the team serving in the capacity as the Technical Head during the last World Cup in Qatar.
His appointment comes as no surprise since most Ghanaian football enthusiasts were expecting the GFA “gurus”
to confirm him for the vacant Stars job.
The new coach, will see the national team through the newly revised nations cup qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which is slated for the ivory Coast.
Born in England to a Ghanaian father and an Irish mother, Houghton has managed some of the top clubs in then English Premier League, i.e., Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Birmingham City, Norwich City just to mention a few and, a managerial role for the Republic of Ireland.
Houghton takes over from Otto Addo, who handled the Stars at the just-ended mundial in Qatar.
