The head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton, is currently in sorrow after the passing of his Ghanaian father.
The news was confirmed by the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum.
Hughton will need some time to prepare his father’s funeral with his family, delaying the official announcement of him as the new coach of the Black Stars.
Asante Twum said, “Chris had to remain in the UK due to his recent loss and needed time with his family to plan the burial service.
That’s why he has yet to visit Ghana. We anticipate his arrival next week, assuming everything goes according to plan. We are in constant communication regarding his unveiling, media engagement, and preparation for the games.”
Hughton was named by the GFA as the Black Stars’ head coach in the middle of February, taking Otto Addo’s place.
The former manager of Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest previously worked as Ghana’s technical advisor for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
