A fashion designer believed to be in his 60s, Kofi Gyamina, has died through fire which gutted a mechanic workshop at Asamankese in the Lower West Akim Municipal of the Eastern Region.
In an exclusive interview with the Lower West Akim Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Director, Mr. Addo Kwasi Andoh, he explained that, he received a call around 10:30mp on the 31st December 2019 that a mechanic shop is under fire.
According to him, he quickly called the Fire Service And the police and both rushed to the scene but after they were able to calm the fire down, the man was seen burnt beyond recognition in his kiosk where he ( Taylor Kofi Gyamina) reside.
According to Mr. Kwasi Andoh, the man is said to be a Stroke Patient so due to that he couldn’t run for his life when the kiosk was burning.
The cause for the fire has not yet been identified but it is alleged that, Taylor Kofi was burning mosquito coil in the kiosk so it is suspected that, the coil brought about the whole thing.
He said seven shops and several properties were destroyed including that of the deceased so he has asked the affected individuals to come to the office for the necessary assessment to be done.
He finally advised the general public especially those with stalls/shops to adopt the habit of acquiring fire extinguisher in their shops and must also be very vigilant when using mosquito coil and candle in this dry season.
