Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Kwaku Baako Jnr has eulogized President Kufour for his role in promoting the media profession in Ghana .
“He was helpful in the stability of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA). He also ensured the association got a permanent head office, and supports towards media freedom”, Baako opined on Peace FM.
Mr.Baako said he appreciated how Mr Kufuor used his office as the President of the Republic to repeal the Criminal Libel Law, which was a bottleneck to press freedom.
Hence he advised, we should use the occasion to celebrate and remember all freedom fighters such as Jones Kugblenu, one-time editor of the Free Press newspaper, Tommy Thompson, Elizabeth Ohene and many others.
The GJA, established on the 15th of August, 1949 is scheduled to celebrate it 70th anniversary in August this year.
The guest of honour for this year’s celebration is former president John Agyekum Kufour.
