Parliamentary Aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Assin Central, Nurein Migyimah says his ultimate aim is to unseat the incumbent MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and increase the political fortunes of NDC in the constituency.
According to him, one major challenge which has confronted the NDC in Assin Central has been inadequate financial support for effective campaigning.
“I am ready to provide financial support for the NDC in Assin Central to help wrestle power from the NPP’s Kennedy Agyapong” Nurein Migyimah said.
Speaking to Citi News in an interview, Nurein Migyimah explained that the NDC has been losing the Assin Central seat to the NPP because they always go to elections with a divided front.
“We have always lost the Assin Central seat to the NPP not because they are performing better, but because we are divided and we can’t continue this way. There is the need to change our pattern, we should get the fundamentals right, 2020 should be different,” he said. he added.
Assin Central NDC demonstrates over Nurein Migyimah’s clearance
Supporters of Nurein Migyimah including branch executives of the party demonstrated against party chairman Baaba Gariba for openly declaring support for another candidate.
The angry supporters took to the streets to vent their displeasure on the day of the NDC primaries.
Mr. Nurein Migyimah, described the incident as unfortunate adding that the division will not deter him from wrestling power from the NPP.
Although Nurein Migyimah who is going unopposed has not been cleared by party executives he is hopeful of being cleared to face off with the NPP Kennedy Agyapong.
“I am urging all my supporters to be calm while I still consult with party executives” he added.
