Nigerian singer Yemi Alade has submitted her latest album “Woman of steel” to the Grammy Awards board for consideration for the Best World Music Album category.
The album which had gathered over a million streams worldwide is her biggest project yet.
Reacting to the news on her instagram page, she wrote:
“We’re up for GRAMMY AWARD Consideration! Reaching out to all voting members of @recordingacademy to consider my Album, ‘Woman of Steel’ for Best World Music Album!
“This has been an incredible project and I would love to celebrate it with all of you. #Grammy2019”
The singer has received several awards from MTV, African Music Award, MOBO, just to mention a few.
She was recently listed as one of the most influential people in Africa in 2018 and was one of the four Nigerian artistes to be featured on Beyonce’s new Lion King album.
Her 2013 single Johnny, with over 100 million views is still the most viewed video by any African artiste on YouTube six years after its release.
