Actress Fella Precious Makafui has recently spoken out about how fellow Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale helped her through a difficult time in her career amidst sex tape rumours.
In an interview on #3FMDrive with AJ Sarpong, Fella revealed that she had been involved in a sex tape controversy that threatened to derail her career and pushed her to almost take her life.
“I really broke down like couple of years ago, I almost took my life. You know people who don’t explain themselves. I am a very free-spirited person, I hate to have grudges, I want to always have a clear mind that’s what makes me very productive so when these things come online and I feel like I don’t explain myself , it tends to bother me. At a point, that was how I was feeling,” she explained.
According to the Yolo actress, she was initially devastated by the scandal after her manager called her to confirm the authenticity of the tape but Shatta Wale was quick to assertain that matter by sharing a link of the video which proved she wasn’t the victim and it went a long way to help her to regain her confidence and move forward.
“My manager called me and said precious I know you can’t do this but there’s a tape out there, is it of you and I said what?? There was no tape to show but the information was out there,” the mother of one recalled “So I told myself I didn’t think I can take it anymore. Shatta Wale was the one that saved me from the controversy. The girl had the same faces me, I got home and I was crying then Shatta called me at 11 and he was like “mummy, mummy forget forget and shared the link with me, so when I watched it the girl had a tattoo on her back and I don’t have one.”
Fella Makafui who is premiering her new TV Series which stars Shatta Wale and her husband, Medikal said if it was not the support of the dancehall king, things could have gone south.
“If Shatta hadn’t sent the link, I’d have believed it and killed myself. If you remember he came on social media and blasted people then shared the link to confirm that I wasn’t the victim,” she said
The interview with the actress and business woman also shed light on the importance of mental health and self-care in the entertainment industry. The pressures of fame and the constant scrutiny of the public eye can take a toll on even the strongest of individuals.
“And since then I said I’ll never listen to people online, they don’t know me, they can’t judge meand I’m not going to let them decide or dictate what to do or what not to do,” she added.
Recall that the YOLO actress at the peak of her popularity came under scrutiny in 2018 following reports that her sex tape had been leaked on social media.
A sex tape purported to be that of the actress and her ex-boyfriend began circulating on social media circles, with many immediately likening the lady in the video to the actress.
However, Fella Makafui and her management vehemently denied the video, alluding that it was a calculated ploy to shame her and cause fans to dislike her. She was later exonerated after the tattoo was not found on her back as she had initially claimed.
