Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies yesterday suffered a 3-0 thumping by Malian side AS Mandé in their second Group B match of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League played at Stade Laurent Pokou in Cote d’Ivoire.
Hat-trick heroine Oumou Kone scored the opener in the 41st minute before she headed home both the second and third goals in the 71st and 73rd minutes respectively to give her side their first victory in the competition. Ampem Darkoa were punished after AS Mandé took advantage of some defensive blunders displayed in each half of the game.
Desperate for a win after drawing their opening game against Huracans of Equatorial Guinea last Monday, AS Mandé moved like a well-oiled machine against the Ghanaians in a match which they dominated completely from start to finish.
The Ghanaian champions fought tooth and nail to at least, get a consolation goal but their efforts proved futile as the game ended 3-0 for the Malians.
Per the results, Ampem Darkoa Ladies have now dropped to the third position on the Group B table and will need to beat winless side Huracanes to enable them progress to the next stage of the competition.
Ampem Darkoa will play Huracanes on Sunday, November 13, while AS FAR Club, who beat Huracanes 1-0 in their second group game to occupy to the second position of the table, will face AS Mandé in San Pedro later next week.
